nature notebook

We finally found two wooly bears. I had to stop in the middle of the road and hop out of the van to snag them. I am so excited. The kids named them Izzy and Bella. Their correct name is Isia isabella.

They both have more of the reddish brown in the middle and only tiny black ends. I can't remember what that means for the winter.

So out came the nature notebooks and they were drawn and colored. Then our two fuzzy friends were released into our yard.

Brown and furry
Caterpillar in a hurry
Take your walk
To the shady leaf, or stalk,
Or what not,
Which may be the chosen spot.
No toad spy you,
Hovering bird of prey pass by you;
Spin and die,
To live again a butterfly.
